Social Evaluator

The social evaluator is an online tool that supports the use of SROI. We have been working with social evaluator in order that the tool consistent with the principles and methodology as set out in the Guide to SROI.

The social e-valuator tool offers practitioners two options for preparing and managing SROI analyses. Firstly, one may obtain a single login code for preparing an SROI analysis of one project or organisation. Secondly, the social e-valuator offers a management account that allows to create up to a 100 unique SROI analyses. The management account enables custom configuration of sets of stakeholders and indicators, while single login codes can only use the pre-set standards. In addition, a license to the management account  includes helpdesk support, and access to specific social e-valuator workshops plus an annual seminar.

A one year free license for a single login code is now available to members of the SROI Network. A management account license is available for € 5,000- per annum. Please note that this offer is only available until 31 December 2010.

One of the barriers to using SROI has been access to a software solution that provides a systematic approach to pulling together the information you need for your social return analysis. Information for an SROI will come from data on outcomes, valuations and information on benchmarks that relate to your stakeholders. Social evaluator brings this information together for you and provides access to case studies and examples to help you as you go along.

Whilst there is a reporting function within social evaluator, social evaluator reports on the information you have entered and you will need to take care on how this is then presented in ways that are relevant to your audience and purpose. If you are seeking to have your SROI report assured, social evaluator will not, on its own, provide enough information in its current version to permit assurance. Separate guidance for this is being developed.
There are a number of differences between the Guide to SROI and social evaluator. These are set out in detail here.

In summary the main differences are:

  • Social evaluator limits the number of stakeholder, outcomes and indicators
  • Social evaluator does not include functionality for displacement and drop off or for sensitivity analysis
  • There are some differences in the order in which the analysis is undertaken
